Macau (MNA) – All casinos in Macau have been ordered to suspend services as of 11:00 pm on Saturday due to Typhoon Mangkhut after the Civil Defence Centre had held a consultation with the Chief Executive (CE) Fernando Chui Sai On.
The suspension of service came as the Typhoon Signal for Typhoon Mangkhut might reach higher than 9, which would make it dangerous for gaming operators to continue running.
At the same time, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau had consulted gaming operators and instructed the companies to follow a typhoon contingency plan to ensure the safety of their employees and visitors.
Earlier on Saturday, Macau Legend Development had pre-emptively announced that certain services such as Fisherman’s Wharf and Babylon Casino before the command was issued to suspend all gaming services.
At the time of writing, Typhoon Signal 3 is still active, which will be raised to Typhoon Signal 8 at 2:00 am according to information from the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG).
